And my Wu-Tang name is Vizual Ninja, so...
After working with Italian post-rock greats Yesterday Will Be Great on the sleeve for their release The Flow, they reached out about needing a new logo. They didn't have anything particular in mind, other than a timeframe. So off we went...
I played with a lot of ideas, including the wolf mockup, which works almost like a flag. The band unanimously favored the wolf design. I worked up a few variations, and a set of options with the ears at a different angle, making the wolf appear more aggressive. This way the band would have some options with the expression.
Independently produced, small batch zine X Kool Kids's visual tone pays homage to the history of printed zines going back to the independent zines and flyers of the eighties and nineties, and that DIY analog aesthetic that feels like you're looking through a handful of shapshots. Very pre-internet. As things developed, we proposed a flatter, lean and modular mark for the primary visual brand and front cover titles. The logotype is consistant, and a rotating selection of simple super-flat illustrations accompanies it. These lockups play well with the DIY layout of the content, and can also roll up their sleeves for merch and promotional needs.
Marketing technology innovator CallRail's Design Lead Josh Baker reached out to me in anticipation of their big annual conference INBOUND 2023. They needed a piece for a fine art wall print in a gallery-themed lounge, that could also work for some light event marketing, promotional backgrounds and phone wallpapers. The concept was "sound". Specifically, sound waves, waveforms.
After an initial exploratory round of mockups to establish tone and mood, we went with this direction, liking how it felt very organic and bright, and not AI generated.
Neil Britto's fantastical space-opera graphic novel series Diamond Eyes is getting an explosive new addition to its literary universe.
I've been working with Neil for years now on various cover illustrations and the title brand mark. Mr. Britto is launching a new chapter in the Diamond Eyes saga, The Last Khoorlfhani Warrior, as both a graphic novel series and simultaneously retelling it as an excitng and dramatic audio podcast series.
Very excited to work with Italian post-rock greats Yesterday Will Be Great on the sleeve design for their new single The Flow.
Simone from the band reached out to me, complimenting my oil paintings and suggesting the possibility of my art for an upcoming record sleeve. We discussed many different options and landed on this photo I took of model Laura Lopez. I think its atmospheric light smears and warm palette pair well with the song's driving, building melody.
I've been a big fan of podcasts for well over a decade. Snags & Silky deliver one of the best kinds of podcasts: fun, in-depth ramblings on music, movies/TV, and books. They wanted to get broader with their marketing and merch visuals, so here we are. The show itself is untethered by genre, and we wanted to carry that over into the illustrations, evoking moods, experiences, and stories. And more to come.
